CUSTOM BATTERY GUIDE

Custom battery pack project checklist

The electrical, mechanical and operating information that makes a useful battery brief.

Start with the application

Describe what the battery will power, who will use it and the intended market. A vehicle, a stationary storage system and a portable device have different operating conditions. Include the operating schedule and any existing equipment that must be retained.

Define electrical demand

Provide the acceptable voltage range, continuous current or power, peak demand and peak duration. State the required operating time and the loads involved. An energy target alone does not show whether the battery can supply the required peak power.

Describe the physical constraints

Include the available space, mounting arrangement, weight limit and access for servicing. Drawings are useful when available. Define connector positions and whether the battery is intended to be removable. Do not assume an enclosure can be exchanged without checking the installation.

Include the operating environment

Document indoor or outdoor use, temperature conditions, exposure to moisture or dust and movement or vibration. These conditions help define the enclosure and evaluation requirements; they are not a substitute for application-specific testing.

Plan the interfaces

Identify the charger, inverter or vehicle controller, including model and relevant firmware when known. Explain communication and monitoring requirements. A shared connector or communication interface alone does not establish compatibility.

Agree the route to supply

Discuss prototype quantity, evaluation criteria, expected production demand, project milestones and the documents required for the target market. The agreed specification should make clear what will be evaluated before production.

Planning guidance

Examples explain general principles. They do not establish the specification or performance of a particular evjrich product. Final selection requires the application and equipment details.
